Open their eyes Lord

A short-term medical team from Singapore to the Thai/Burma border carried about 500 pairs of old glasses with them. Reports the Mercy Teams International (MTI) doctor, "It was like a carnival with so many people waiting to see the doctor or to be fitted with free glasses. I am not too sure if all of them really needed them; my guess is that many just joined the crowd because they wanted to get something! However, there were many who genuinely needed the glasses and it was so exciting to watch the expressions of joy and smiles on their faces each time we 'stumbled' on the right pair for them. Last Sunday, I saw a man using his reading glasses to read the Bible in church. Not only were his physical eyes opened, his spiritual eyes were opened too. Every patient is given a tract in Burmese. Pray that the patients will read and be touched by the hope God offers."

MTI is building a new block to house a children's home and also medical and dental clinics in this place. They are also in the process of laying pipes to supply the villagers with tap water, hopefully in July. This will be a memorable milestone in their history. Pray that they will also drink the living water freely available from the Lord.
 

ABRE SUS OJOS, SEÑOR

Un equipo médico de corto plazo fue desde Singapur a la frontera de Tailandia-Burma llevando 500 pares de anteojos viejos. Un médico de Equipos de Misericordia Internacional (EMI) dijo que “se pareció un feria con muchas personas esperando ver al doctor o para que se le entregaran los anteojos gratis. No estoy tan seguro de que todos los necesitaran, creo que muchos se unieron a la multitud esperando recibir algo. De todas maneras, había muchos que genuinamente necesitaban los anteojos y fue de mucho ánimo para nosotros ver las expresiones de gozo y las sonrisas en los rostros cada vez que encontrábamos el par justo para cada paciente. El domingo pasado, vi a un hombre usando sus anteojos de lectura, para leer la Biblia en la iglesia. No sólo sus ojos físicos fueron abiertos, sino sus ojos espirituales también. Cada paciente se llevó literatura en burmés. Ora para que los pacientes la lean y sean tocados por la esperanza que Dios ofrece”.

EMI está construyendo un edificio donde funcionará un hogar para niños, y una clínica médica y dental en el lugar. Están en el proceso de construir una tubería para traer agua potable a las aldeas, se espera que se termine en Julio. Esto será un hito en la historia de esta gente. Ora para que ellos beban del agua viva que el Señor ofrece gratuitamente.
