The lonely on the road

Kurt and Meredith had been praying about meeting some of their Israeli neighbours. One day, as they were driving in their car, they saw Sally, an Israeli woman, hitch hiking. They picked her up and drove her on some errands before taking her home, which was close to where Kurt and Meredith lived. They gave her their phone number and said to call if she needed a ride. And Sally took them up on their offer!

After giving her a few rides and developing a friendship, Kurt and Meredith soon learned about Sally's difficult life. A 35-year-old artist, Sally suffers from a benign brain tumour which has affected her nervous system and has diminished her artistic skills. She only has one sister, whose children make fun of her because of the tumour and its effect on her speech and motor skills. Sally hates being alone, but is alone. Meredith started meeting with her weekly to study Hebrew, and the frequent rides continued. Kurt and Meredith prayed for physical and spiritual healing, as well as a spiritual breakthrough in Sally's life. She is open to talking about Jesus and spiritual things, but can't believe that Jesus is the Son of God. To her it seems impossible that God would have a son and that Jesus is the real Messiah.

Unfortunately, Kurt and Meredith had to return to their home country recently. This has left Sally alone again. Pray for Sally that she will know the eternal presence of Yeshua that will not leave her alone. Pray for Kurt and Meredith and their children as they adjust to life away from Israel and back in their home country. Pray also for more workers to join the ministry of OM Israel to reach out to the many "Sallys" around the country.
