Silk Road Summer Challenge 09

Our Silk Road Summer Challenge is under way! It runs from July 1-18. This initiative that started 4 years ago has grown amazingly and this year we have 100 participants from Central Asian countries. After 2 days of training they will go to 20 different destinations in 20 different teams. The participants were interviewed and here are 2 of their stories.
At 18, Talgat is the youngest participant in Silkroad Challege 09. He came to know Jesus at the tender age of 4 years old, after watching the Jesus Film with his mother. He cried when Jesus died and realised he wanted to know Jesus too. Now, he is attending his first summer project – travelling to another country to share about the One he knows. “Everything is boiling inside me,” he said. “For the first time I will go to a new country, without my family, to share the gospel. I am really excited.”
Second time participant Asem was delighted to be going on a summer team again. Last year it was so exciting to see people coming to the Lord. She herself came to faith through a friend at a time when she was in crisis. She heard the Good News and made a firm decision saying to God, “I will follow you always.” Nine years later she is taking the hope she now knows to another country and another culture.

Praise God for the 100 Central Asians on this year’s Summer Challenge.
Pray for great fruitfulness through their witness and in their lives.
