Making inroads into the community

Reaching out to neighbours in the Czech Republic can be very difficult. Having been occupied twice in the 20th century, Czechs are naturally suspicious of outsiders.

After living in the same neighbourhood for two years, OMers Dan and Krista Coyan felt they had made enough inroads in their community to begin a home Bible study. Krista teaches in the local public elementary and middle school. She invited some colleagues and neighbours. Dan teaches English at the OM base, and he invited many of his students.

On a typical Friday, they now have 10-12 Czechs attending. Some of the attendees are Christians, others are interested in God, and there are even a few atheists. Some people come for to talk about the topics, while others come for a chance to practice their English. Dan and Krista are considering adding a second group, if the growth continues.
