HEARTSOUNDS International (HSI) has just completed the first-ever recording of Christian Mongolian children's songs. The CD is the result of a workshop on songwriting given by the team a year ago. Another team recently visited India's Punjab state. Frank Fortunato notes, "We discovered there's actually quite a lot happening in Christian music there already. The Punjabi way of singing was incorporated into the church - which is one significant reason why the church there has grown. We plan to use the Punjabi songs on a compilation recording."
Next up in late March 2005 is a trip to Karachi, Pakistan, where an HSI team will work with the nation's only Christian music school. The visitors will teach a course on music literacy, hold a seminar for pastors and musicians on biblical and practical aspects of worship leading, and train a team of musicians to use a digital recording studio being given to the school by HSI. The final goal is to record indigenous songs from the Psalms.
