MORE THAN A CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

Starting with just a two-hour Saturday afternoon club for ‘port kids’, OM Philippines has seen a rapid growth in the ministry in Cebu City. Today, workers are active in five different areas in partnership with five local churches.

During a special programme for teenagers (too old for the children’s club) workers asked the youngsters to pray. Pangkoy asked God to give him food to eat everyday so that he will not have to beg or steal. Kenneth prayed that there would be peace in his family so he can return home (he has been living in a wooden cart and hasn’t been home for months).

In the midst of these tragic stories, there is hope. Children, teenagers and adults have been brought into the local churches and some are attending Bible studies to find out more. One girl, who had stopped attending school after the break up of her family, is now back at school and completing her studies. And business students from the University of the Philippines organised a concert to buy basic hygiene products for the ‘port kids’ (toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.) From small beginnings, the ministry in Cebu City continues to grow. Please pray that more local churches will get involved!
