OM Chile mobilises people to give, pray and help

Santiago Earthquake - Hundreds of deaths, approximately two million people homeless and damage costing 30 billion American dollars. Exact numbers were still uncertain when Chile was hit by a number of heavy aftershocks on Thursday, 11th March. Experts believe that in 24 hours, the country suffered at least twenty noticeable aftershocks, one measuring 6.9 on the Richter scale. Fortunately, these aftershocks caused no fatalities.

The earth is still restless. Areas in Chile are still hard to access. However, the Chilean church is united in prayer and in mobilising people to help earthquake victims. OM Chile in turn is mobilizing people to pray- and give. Chileans are in need of money to buy building materials.

Some OM Chile team members have been working in Pichilemu, a city heavily hit by the earthquake, helping to rebuild houses and encouraging victims. The epicentre of the aftershocks was a mere 40 kilometres in the sea from Pichilemu! Nevertheless every team member is doing well.

Furthermore, in June and July, OM teams are going to work on the reconstruction of churches and houses in the southern part of the country. "Please join in prayer for our nation", the OM Chile team writes in its newsletter, "for God, in times of trouble, to bless many people with peace, freedom and salvation."

OM CHILE MOVILIZA PERSONAS PARA DAR, ORAR Y AYUDAR
Terremoto en Santiago – Cientos de muertos, aproximadamente dos millones de personas sin hogar y daños por 30 mil millones de dólares estadounidenses. Estos números todavía no son precisos luego de que Chile sufriera muchas réplicas. Los expertos creen que en 24 horas, el país sufrió por lo menos 20 réplicas, una de las cuales midió 6.9 en la escala de Richter. Afortunadamente dichas réplicas no causaron víctimas fatales.

La tierra todavía se mueve. Hay algunas áreas que todavía es difícil acceder. Igualmente, la iglesia chilena está unida en oración y movilización de personas para ayudar a las víctimas del terremoto. OM Chile está animando a las personas a orar y dar. Los damnificados necesitan dinero para comprar materiales de construcción.

Algunos de los miembros de OM Chile han estado trabajando en Pichilemu, una ciudad duramente golpeada por el terremoto, ayudando a reconstruir casas y animando a las víctimas. El epicentro de las réplicas fue a 40 kilómetros mar adentro desde Pichilemu. Gracias a Dios los miembros del equipo están bien.

Se está planeando que en Junio y Julio miembros de OM trabajen en la reconstrucción de iglesias y casas en el sur del país. El equipo de OM Chile escribió en su carta de noticias: “Por favor únanse a nosotros en oración por nuestra nación. Para que Dios, en tiempos difíciles, bendiga a muchas personas con paz, libertad y salvación.”
