A "Preparing the Ground" medical outreach to Ecuador's Saraguro people in southern Ecuador is taking place this 17-24 April. Only about 2 percent of these 32,000 highland people have been given the good news of Jesus.

Reports South Ecuador Project Coordinator Darren van Rensburg, "the National Prayer Network has agreed to send a team of intercessors to Saraguro before the outreach to pray. Gideon International will place Bibles in strategic places like schools and hostels in the area this next week. And the radio station in Saraguro has agreed to announce the free medical help regularly in the next three weeks preceding the clinic. The team will do advanced evangelistic training with the local church. The team of doctors, optometrists and specialists coming from the U.S. will give free consultations. There will also be a pharmacy with free medicine and free glasses. As people wait they will hear evangelistic programs and the Jesus film. Follow up the following week will be done in partnership with members of the local church."

The OM team is hopeful this medical campaign will be the first step in a broader outreach effort to mobilize the Ecuadorian church in the south. Saraguro is a city whose indigenous people mix ancestral, Incan and Catholic religious practices. Please pray that God will use this medical mission outreach to build relationships with people and their hearts would be receptive to His message.
