The potential of church partnership

A young Romanian was preparing to join the Doulos when Rafael, the Field Leader of OM Romania, met with her pastor. When the pastor was asked to “bless” his church member, he thought OM only wanted his money. “What she needs most is prayer,” replied Rafael, much to the pastor’s surprise, and thus laying the foundation of a “new” form of church partnership. Six months later the pastor called Rafael, saying, “Make our church the centre of mission in Romania to the world!” Of about 400 mission organisations working in Romania, only two or three are mobilising the local church for world missions.

OM began full-time ministry in Romania in January 1992, two years after the fall of the Socialist Regime on 22 December 1989, and the subsequent execution of Dictator Nicolae Ceausescu. There are currently 15 Romanians serving OM locally and abroad, and by 2015, OM Romania hopes to mobilise the church to send out 100 workers.

EL POTENCIAL DEL COMPAÑERISMO CON LA IGLESIA - Rumania
Una joven rumana se estaba preparando para unirse al barco Doulos cuando Rafael, Líder de Campo de OM Rumania, se reunió con su pastor. Cuando se le pidió al pastor que “bendiga” a la señorita, miembro de su iglesia, él pensó que OM sólo quería su dinero. “Lo que ella más necesita es la oración”, respondió Rafael, para sorpresa del pastor. Y esto puso el fundamento para una “nueva” forma de compañerismo con la iglesia. Seis meses después el pastor llamó a Rafael para decirle que “¡haga de nuestra iglesia un centro de misión en Rumania para el mundo!” De las 400 organizaciones misioneras trabajando en Rumania, sólo dos o tres están movilizando la iglesia local hacia las misiones mundiales.

OM comenzó un ministerio de tiempo completo en Rumania en Enero de 1992, dos años después de la caída del Régimen Soviético el 22 de Diciembre de 1989, y la subsecuente ejecución del Dictador Nicolae Ceausescu.
