Indonesian domestic helpers celebrating after the baptism on Stanley Beach.

Conversion to Christianity

Last November, I attended a baptism ceremony held by an Indonesian church at Stanley beach, Hong Kong. It was a bit chilly but did not put out the spiritual flames of the Indonesian domestic helpers joining the church. I could feel how amazing God’s love is through their testimonies! To Indonesian ladies, believing in Christ is not just a matter of choice. Sometimes they have to face many challenges and danger, and some may even need to pay for their lives.

Standing Firm

When M* told her family in Indonesia about her conversion to Christ, they responded, “If you stand firm with your belief in Jesus, you are not welcome home any more.” P* had the same experience. Her husband told her, “If you believe in Jesus, I will divorce you!” N*, who was once a devoted Muslim, responded similarly when she first heard from her sister about putting her faith in Christ, “I have to go to Hong Kong to kill the apostate!” Despite different kinds of pressure, these Indonesian ladies bear beautiful fruit – loyal love to Jesus Christ.

Working Together

Indonesian domestic helpers only stay in Hong Kong for a short period of time. Now God had provided us with a way to show His love to these girls. Shall we join hands to accomplish the great commission which God called us to take on?
