It takes time...

It takes time.

The first day we arrived to our project “house”, which was to include cleaning and a roof remodel, we were greeted with the shy, silent faces of the Roma family.

What was a group of 3 Americans, 1 Australian, 3 British, 2 Germans, 1 Korean, 1 Serbian and 1 Swiss going to do to our home?! Some such thought probably raced through the minds of the 5 parentless children.

What followed were 4 days of not only accomplishing our tasks to improve their living conditions but more than that, 4 days of building a relationship with this beautiful family, so needy for Christ. The oldest even joined in hammering at the roof. He and his 15-year-old wife are responsible for the children.

The OM Transit Team, who enabled this project to happen, was only with us for a week and had to finish their ministry journey through Europe. We, however, get to experience the fruit of this endeavor as we regularly visit with our friends, desiring to share the gospel and our lives with them (1 Thessalonians 2:8).

It takes time…

Just recently my teammate and I headed over for a visit with this family. We were greeted quite differently than that first visit. And when we left, we could barely shut the van door as the kids swarmed us with hugs and kisses.
