Garden in July

The finished garden
One of OM Montenegro's aims is to reach out to the Roma community. Knowing how to help these outcastes of society remains the real challenge.

"The idea to help the Tilun family, a young Roma family we had befriended, plant a vegetable garden, seemed reasonable but untimely (too hot in July!)," says Mary Lynne. "Though neither I, nor anyone on our team have ever planted a garden of any sorts, however, the idea remained."

Soon news came from Volker, team leader of OM Montenegro, of a group from Switzerland coming for two weeks, and needing a project. “Despite asking gardeners for tips and doing additional research, pessimism consumed my heart," remembers Mary Lynne, "but within a few days of the Swiss team's arrival, all fear completely dissolved. A woman from the team had been gardening for 15 years! She took over the project. It was as if God had known she would be coming all along..."

"Now our friends have a garden, if not a little dry (but still living)! We continue to visit with the Tilun family, at times watering the plants with them, praying that God would continue to grow the seeds of the Gospel that have been planted."
