'That somebody is me!'

Juank Giovannetti wants to encourage everybody to take their part in sharing the gospel with these words: Jer. 1:5-10.
Juank Giovannetti, an 18-year-old man from Colombia, has a passion to tell the world about Jesus. “I've been blessed with a Christian family and parents who always told me about Jesus' love for me and for the whole world,” Juank said.

However, when he was in secondary school, Juank parted ways from God for a while. He started hanging out with friends who were not a good influence and attended many parties. At age 15, he felt that nothing truly filled him. That was when he realised again that Jesus was beside him. God healed him, and Juank went back to church with his parents.

For half a year, Juank studied music at a university in Colombia. He desperately wanted to go to the US or England in an exchange study programme. However, even though he did his best to make this happen, all of his plans failed. Juank felt frustrated. His pastor heard of the situation and suggested he join a missions training abroad.

“I had never thought of that myself,” said Juank. “But he already had a perfect school in mind for me to go to. Needless to say, that was OM’s International Intensive School of Missions in Panama.”

Now that he’s participating in the training, Juank can say that this school has been part of God’s plan for his life. He loves his group, teachers and everything God does in and through them. “God has a brilliant future for me,” he said. “Being here, it has been astonishing for me to realise that sharing the Gospel is not about just somebody who should go here and there and do something. No, that somebody is me!”

After he finishes the missions school, Juank hopes to board Logos Hope. He has already discussed this idea with many people who have been with OM Ships and feels that God wants to teach him more about Him and His plans for Juank’s life.

“God wants me to be sharing the Gospel with the nations,” he said. “He has given me plenty of words of encouragement to go. These words from Joshua 1:9 are the most valuable to me: ‘Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go’” (NIV).

Please pray that the Lord would use Juank for His Kingdom, and that nothing comes between Juank and His Saviour.
