A new ministry targeting young professionals in Thailand was launched by OM Thailand last year. Numerous young professionals have been sent out in missions as a result.
With the vision to develop national leaders to serve in the church at home and abroad, OM Thailand launched a new ministry targeting young professionals in Thailand last year. Bi-monthly Young Professionals Prayer and Mission (Y2PM) events have been hosted in 10 partner churches and Christian CEO’s groups in Thailand since.

Many of the 40-100 young professionals who regularly attend Y2PM have volunteered on the OM ship and/or during OM Thailand’s summer outreach programmes in Bangkok. Not only have they been given exposure to global missions, but they also benefit from regular leadership training provided.

“Of the 4,000 churches in Thailand, only 2,000 have pastors,” said Del Montawan from OM Thailand. “Our aim is to encourage young professionals to become leaders within their own communities, be it in a factory or company. We also try to encourage them to get involved in world missions through Y2PM prayer nights or mission days.”

Most of those who have been sent out by OM Thailand are from the Y2PM group: 14 young Thai professionals have served on the OM ship and one is currently participating in OM Lifehope’s (UK) ELCO programme.  Another young Thai professional has applied for OM South Africa’s Mission Discipleship Training, two join Logos Hope this September and four more have shown interest in joining OM Lifehope’s ELCO programme later this year – it is a great opportunity for young Thai professionals to combine English learning with missions.

“One of our two church plants in Bangkok was started by young professionals,” added Del. “We are trying to network young professionals in Thailand, so that they can build a strong community and attract other young professionals.”

Pray for OM Thailand as they prepare for a three-day leadership seminar for OM Thailand’s International JOY Club, KMUTT and those preparing for the field. About 20 people are expected. Pray that many young professionals in Thailand come to know of God’s love through their Christian co-workers and peers.
