Georgetown, Guyana :: Virginia Ben (South Africa) checking a patient?s blood pressure
Serving far from Logos II in Georgetown, Virginia Ben (South Africa) had a direct experience of Guyana’s rich and varied culture. Along with a team of other crew, each day she assisted at a clinic offering free medical services to the local community. The centre was busy, and Victoria often helped co-ordinate the large numbers of people coming to visit. She quickly discovered that a smile and simple conversation was the best way to make people feel relaxed and ease the burden of waiting. Through the period away from the ship, Victoria learned a vital aspect of serving people is simply taking time for them.
