Now they know what they are singing about

Christmas may be all forgotten in the West by January, but here in Ukraine we have been using the celebration of the birth of our Lord Jesus for very effective children’s evangelism all the way through the last month. We started out on the 20th of December 2017, and our last Christmas outreach was on the 27th of January 2018!

Our Vinnitsa Puppet team were able to reach out to 23 towns, villages and neighbourhoods with 26 performances. 1595 children and 215 grown ups heard the Gospel message through this ministry during this season.

Reaching out in both the Vinnitsa and Odessa provinces, the team was able to visit orphanages, rehabilitation centers, government schools, nursery schools and serve local churches in their outreach efforts.

This was a challenging season, of course! We praise God, however, that He supplied the volunteers. “I always pray before the start of such an outreach campaign”, says Tanya Morgunova, “that He will provide us with the team He wants. This team was so clearly God’s team!”

After performances, teachers thanked us for the performances and invited our team to come again – even without gifts, not only when there is a holiday to celebrate on the calendar – just 'come again'!

This year our team was especially blessed to have received sponsorship for a projector and screen for the backdrop during our performances. Being able to easily change the backdrop and have the prayer of salvation right there up on the screen has brought our performances to a new level!

Tanya likewise mentions, “I am so glad that we have this ministry that brings the Gospel to people in an unusual way. It was a shock to realize how many of the children have no idea what the Christmas story is. They did not know that Mary’s husband was Joseph or where Jesus was born. Here in Ukraine, children go around singing so-called “Christmas songs” in order to get sweets but have no idea what that they are singing about 'the Saviour of the world'.”

It is an honour for our teams to be able to travel and tell so many about the Gospel. Our prayer is that the Lord will keep what they have heard safe in their hearts. Praise God for these last days.

Our team is now making preparations for a puppet festival where we can teach others how to use this amazing tool for evangelism. While travelling over the festive season, many were interested in learning more about such a ministry. We thus ask for your prayers for finances for the festival, for volunteers, attendees and the preparation for the program.

Our next big outreach is during the Easter season and we are now busy praying about an appropriate puppet play. Please join us in prayer. We are truly thankful for prayers and support!
